When to allow the various Tama County government buildings to reopen will be on the agenda on Monday, May 18, for the Board of Supervisors. Members discussed what their next step should be during the Zoom electronic regular board meeting on May 11. Only the Tama County Courthouse doors have remained open during the lockdown for the COVID-19 prevention measures since March 18. At the courthouse, much of the activity has been limited to court hearings by video conference or telephone a spokesperson said. The Tama County offices have all been staffed and working during the shutdown. Some employees work from home in various time frames and setups. Auditor Laura Kopsa said it is recommended to call for information or an appointment with the offices until the decision is made to open the doors. Supervisors have relied upon the direction of Governor Kim Reynolds, noting Tama County is one of the 22 counties designated as “hot spots” for COVID-19. They also plan to consult with Shannon Zoffka, County Health and home Care executive director on Monday. Doors locked include the Administration Building including the auditor and commissioner of elections, supervisors board room, treasurer, assessor and recorder. Other also with doors closed are Tama County Health and Home Care, Veterans Affairs and General Relief, Central Point of Coordination and Engineer. In action on Monday the supervisors: •approved a resolution transferring $75,000 from the Vienna TIF Fund to the debt service fund for part of the first payment for the new county emenrgecy radio system. •approved vacation of a small parcel of land which the county had previously acquired to allow for bridge reconstruction on K Avenue west of U.S. Highway 63. the action was taken at the request of the landowner.
