The Holidays Come Alive in Gladbrook On Wed., Nov. 20th!

The Gladbrook community will kick-off the holiday season with the 23rd annual Gladbrooks Christmas Tree Lighting Festivities, which will be held on Wed., Nov. 20th, 6-8 p.m. It will also be the lighting of the 15th annual Festival of Trees in the City Center. You will be amazed when you enter the Kingdom of Arendelle, and walk through the lighted ice tunnel and see Elsa's castle.

Beautifully decorated Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes can be viewed at the Festival of Trees. You will walk past some very unique and colorfully decorated trees. The trees are sponsored by area businesses, churches, individuals, and organizations. Please join in the fun and decorate a tree. Please remember that the Gladbrook Womens Club will be judging the exhibits in the Festival of Trees. There will be ?ve categories Business, Organizations, Kids, Religious, and Misc. You might be a lucky winner of a prize!!!!

Santa Claus will make his annual appearance in Gladbrook on Nov. 20th as well. He will be upstairs in the City Center on the stage passing out the Santa sacks starting at 6 p.m. . Jolly Old St. Nick will be seated on the brightly decorated stage, where you can take your own Santa pictures. The elves will be helping Santa if you just want to pick up your Santa Sack. You are never too old to get a sack!

There will be a Farmers Market in the City Center that evening. In the theater a Christmas movie will be playing.

Free hot dogs and hot apple cider will be ready to go by 6:00 p.m. on Main Street. Christmas music will be playing to help everyone get into the holiday spirit. Dostals Belgiums will be ready to pull an illuminated trolley for all ages to ride from 6-8 p.m. The trolley is sponsored by Goos Implement and Great Western Bank.

The kids prizes will be sorted according to ages so make sure you register. After the 7:30 p.m. caroling just check out the poster of names at your respective age bracket table to see if you are a winner!!! The Gladbrook Young Women are coordinating the kids prizes.

18 year-olds through adults may register for prizes including gift certi?cates, seasonal items, and much much more at the hotdog table. All prizes will be at the festivities and will be picked up by the lucky winners that evening including the four $25 in trade dollars, so you must be present to win. These prize winners will be announced over the loud speaker.

The highlight of the evening will be the Gladbrook-Reinbeck chorus singing Christmas carols and the lighting of the beautiful evergreen tree donated by Merlyn & Connie Appelgate, followed by the drawing for all the prizes.

There will be a coloring contest with prizes for all ages. You can pick up the coloring sheets at the City Center, Great Western Bank & Hometown Family Market starting Nov. 4th. You will turn in your coloring sheet the night of the tree lighting at a booth upstairs in the city center. There you will register for a youth or adult prize. The winners will be announced after the caroling by the Christmas tree. The colored pictures will be on display in the Festival of Trees through Jan. 1st.
