Gladbrook United Methodist Women

Seven members of the United Methodist Women met on September 18 in the fellowship room. Diane Mussig and Kathy Poling served two flavors of delicious Bundt cake, grapes, with coffee and tea. The tables were decorated with Diane’s home grown gladiolas. Kathy Poling gave a prayer. After fellowship, Kay Lowry gave devotions about God’s protection. Pauline Flamme gave the lesson centering around the aprons she collects and how they like God give protection. She reflected to our Grandmothers day for their use then. Kathy Poling, president, conducted the business meeting with the secretary minutes read by Pauline Flamme of the last May 15, meeting. A treasurer’s report was given by June Klinefelter. A check was written for the confirmation class camp. Money collected from the Boll family, dishcloths. Bills paid to 3rd district pledges, and a thank offering. Pledges are accepted anytime. A baby blanket was given to the Reinberg baptism. Cards for Baptisms and Confirmation was discussed. The group needs to purchase some. Trunk or Treat was discussed, whether we needed to continue. It was suggested that the families with Trucks need to set up in the enclosed area uptown for viewing. We are going to continue serving hot dogs, chips and water. June Klinefelter will get the hot dogs, buns, chips and water. Kathy Poling will get plates. It was decided to serve from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. The group decided to support Beth Koester’s reading program. Marcia Koester will be approached on what she would like for her students this year. Mrs. Keller will be approached for her program that helps with the needy. Nancy Keiser was wondering about the confirmation reception----who is serving? They are three members, Sydney Vavroch, Ruth Gideon, and Elle Carlson. Kathy Poling will talk with Nancy. There was discussion on what to serve. June Klinefelter brought about another feminine kit workshop. October 3rd was chosen at 9:30 a.m. Woman United meeting in Marshalltown, Friday October 25 at the New Hope church opposite the college campus on highway 14. Coffee from 8:30 -9 a.m. Carolyn Moe and Dana Brown brought up their information on a towel dispenser for the restrooms. So far no plans have been made except they plan to devise a way of using what the case of towels they just purchased. It was announced that Carol Mead was in hospital. Oct 15 Westbrook Visit Linda Schneider chairman, with Suzanne Boldt and RoseMary McKinney Next month’s meeting will be held October 16 with June Klinefelter and Suzanne Boldt, Hostesses Becky Fish devotions and Carolyn Moe program. November 5, 2019 Chili Supper will be presented.
