GLADBROOK — Keagan Giesking scored five first-half touchdowns and the Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team opened 8-Man District 5 play with a 52-20 victory over Meskwaki. Giesking had first-half touchdown runs of 5, 13, 27, 2 and 6 yards while finishing the game with 14 carries for 101 yards. Eli Thede added a 21-yard TD dash as the Rebels led 44-6 at the half. Drake Blakesley added a 15-yard TD run for G-R (1-2, 1-0), while Thede finished with 84 yards rushing. Cullen Eiffler completed 11-of-15 passes for 112 yards, finding Thede six times for 45 yards and Aidan Wyatt twice for 38 yards. Meskwaki quarterback Stanford Kapayou went 13-for-27 for 202 yards passing with two TDs and two interceptions — both by Wyatt. Larnell Velazquez led the way with seven catches for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Donovan Slick-Driscoll added a 1-yard scoring run for the Warriors (1-2, 0-1) in the fourth quarter.
