North Tama seniors Carissa Calderwood and Chloe Feisel have been named to the Iowa Star Conference’s all-South Division first team, the league recently announced. This marks the third honor for Calderwood, the Redhawks’ catcher who received second-team honors a year ago after being named to the first team as a sophomore. This is the first all-conference honor for Feisel, North Tama’s starting third baseman. Redhawk sophomore center fielder Rylee McLean landed on the second team, and junior corner infielder Sable Fehr received honorable mention. GMG seniors Zoe Duncan and Kelsey Vaverka collected their second all-conference accolades as both were voted to the all-conference second team. Duncan was an honorable mention pick two summers ago, while Vaverka was a second-teamer last season. Wolverine sophomore Emily Vaughn gained honorable mention selection. Calderwood and Feisel shared team-high honors with 13 hits during ISC South Division play. Both had three doubles. Calderwood led the Redhawks with a .464 conference batting average while Feisel hit .433, driving in 11 runs. Defensively, Calderwood threw out three attempted base-stealers while Feisel had just three errors in 46 chances during league play. Duncan cut down four would-be base-stealers during her time behind the plate for GMG, while 11 of Vaverka’s 12 hits during conference play went for extra bases (nine doubles, two triples). She drove in a team-high 11 runs in South Division action, batting .353. McLean batted .267 in South Division play for North Tama, scoring 10 runs along the way, and did a bulk of the pitching in the early part of the season for the Redhawks. Fehr had a double among her three hits during league play while driving in five runs. Vaughn batted 303 in league play for GMG, with half of her 10 hits going for doubles. She was second on the team with six RBIs in conference play while also stealing nine bases. She also shared the pitching duties with Vaverka this season.
