Tama County District Court

Before Judge Mary E. Chicchelly in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Mata Malee Taylor, 36, Toledo, pleaded guilty to assault, domestic abuse enhanced. She was sentenced to a suspended two-year prison term and directed to reside at a women’s residential correctional facility for up to one year. She was also placed on supervised probation to the Department of Correctional Services and directed to pay a $300 supervisory fee. A $635 fine was suspended and a $125 domestic abuse surcharge and $135 court costs were assessed. She must also successfully complete and pay for the Iowa domestic Abuse Assault Program to be completed in 210 days. Taylor was charged in the 100 block of South Broadway on June 15 after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend by scratching his neck and hitting him in the forehead with a pair of pliers. The charge was filed by Toledo Police Chief Bob Kendall. Court records noted Taylor had two previous convictions for domestic abuse assault.
