“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” -(2 Corinthians 5:17)- C. S. Lewis was not only brilliant but a thoughtful observer of people as well. Lewis strongly didn’t agree with the premise that joining the household of faith necessarily turns your life into a joyful, abundantly satisfied person who smiles a lot. When confronted with the argument that Christians did not always have a pleasant dispositions, Lewis responded that the issue is not whether individuals are happy or grumpy. The real issue, he believed, is what a person would have been had he or she not become a follower of Christ. That argument recognizes that there is a work of God’s grace which comes through genuine conversation. When God’s grace comes and at work in your lives, you not only experience God’s power changing your eternal destiny, but also changing your life-style. But we need to be reminded that a genuine conversion experience does not change personality types into something different from the imprint of God’s hand at one’s birth. A study of those whom Jesus invited to walked with Him- the 12 disciples as well as the women who were close to Him-reveals that being in the fullness of His presence did not turn Peter, and extrovert, into someone else. Peter had a temper before he walked away from his nets to follow Jesus. Even after the encounter with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Peter still had a temper. But understanding that Jesus wanted to be his Lord and Savior, Peter sought to bring that temper under the control to Jesus whom he served. God- regardless of your personality or temperament- is at work in your life, helping you to become all that God intends you to be. GOD BLESS!
