2019 3rd District Jr. Auxiliary Conference

The 2019 3rd District Jr. Auxiliary Conference was held on April 7th at the Conrad Post home.

Deidra Green, Conrad was the President with the following of?cers: V-P Jackie Sherman, Gladbrook; Secretary Maya Goos, Gladbrook; Chaplain Sydney Vavroch, Gladbrook; Historian Adelyn Sienknecht, Gladbrook; Sgt-at-Arms Calie Travis, Shellsburg, and Jasmin Terven, Gladbrook. Following a dinner served by the Conrad Auxiliary, the meeting was called to order by Parliamentarian Kelly Elliott. In the processional Conrad, Gladbrook, and 3rd District ?ags were presented. Flag bearers from Gladbrook were Kayla Vavroch, Justina Eggers, and Jo Lage. The POW ?ag was placed by Imagin Wanken and the Vacant Chair was read by Jordan Sherman.

Conrad Mayor Jeff Martin welcomed everyone to Conrad. Conrad Post Commander Bob Daniels and Unit President Sue Kitzman all brought greetings.

Juniors units answering roll call from 3rd District were Conrad, 6 Juniors, Shellsburg 2 Juniors, Denver, 2 Juniors, Liscomb, 1 Jr. and Gladbrook, 11 Juniors. Total registration was 22 Juniors, 29 Post & Unit members, and 2 guests for a total of 52. Gladbrook had 8 seniors attending.

Guests who addressed the conference were Department Auxiliary Vice-President Kelly Elliott, 3rd District Commander Bob Daniels, 3rd District President Shirley Warnke, and Dept. Jr. Chairman Mary Jo McLaughlin.

President Deidra gave her Presidents Report about her yearly activities. She told about her projects. One was collecting toiletries for the veterans at the Iowa Veterans Home. She had a goal of collecting 50-125 lbs. of pop tabs and 78 lbs. were brought to the conference for the Ronald McDonald House. Gladbrook donated 19lbs. Her ?nal goal was collecting items for the Miracles in Motion Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Many items were donated by the Gladbrook Juniors and Unit.

Chaplain Sydney Vavroch presented a Book of Prayers and Inspirations that was made by Madisyn Eggers who wasnt able to attend.

Historian Adelyn Sienknecht showed President Deidra the History Book she made. She also thanked everyone that submitted articles and pictures. She will ?nish Deidras book after the conference.

A total of $196.42 was collected in the Pennies March with the proceeds going to President Deidras project.

The following of?cers were elected for the 2019-2020 year: President Jordan Sherman, Gladbrook; V-P Maya Goos, Gladbrook; Secretary Jasmin Terven, Gladbrook; Chaplain Sydney Vavroch, Gladbrook; Historian Cali Travis, Shellburg; Sgt-at-Arms Accalia Johnson, Denver, and Alaney Sienknecht, Gladbrook. They were installed by the 3rd District President Shirley Warnke. President Deidras mother, pinned on her past presidents pin.

Gladbrook will host the 2020 conference. Contest results were announced. Poppy poster winners were Stella Betts, Leah Pieper, and Alaney Sienknecht. Their posters will go on to state.

For entertainment everyone enjoyed tying blankets for the Iowa City VA Hospital. Many door prizes were given out.

V-P Jordan Sherman presented President Deidra with a gift from her of?cers, which was an Isabel Bloom patriotic heart.

The conference ended with singing God Bless America and the retirement of colors.
