So here we go with just some of the key things we want you to mark on your calendars! Crafts will be every 2nd Thursday of the Month at 6:00pm. We have several fall and Christmas crafts planned. Pictures of the that weeks craft project will be on Facebook so you can see if it’s something you would like to participate in! Story Hour on Wednesday is going strong. We invite any new families to come and spend their morning from 10:00-11:00 am with us as we read, do craft projects, eat snacks and have great fun! On October 18th, Gladbrook Public Library will be hosting a Fall Festival and Silent Auction! Details to follow! Always look at our Facebook for up to-date information. October 31st the library will be transformed into a Haunted House from 7:00-8:30….stay tuned for more details. I am asking that if anyone has any bed top sheets they would like to donate we would love to take those off your hands to help with decorating! You may have noticed a new face in here helping out during the afternoons. Brandon Drew from GMG schools has been participating in a volunteer work study program. He is doing a wonderful job making the place sparkle with his extra help! We appreciate having him here so please if you see him tell him thanks and Hello! Our Summer Reading Program, LIBRARY ROCKS! 2018, ended August 20th with a bang! We had a phenomenal sign up and participation. Each year gets bigger & better! Library Rocks started of the program with a pizza party sign up. Every year we try to host 3 programs that are educational, promote reading during the summer, and provide an opportunity for the kids to enjoy something that they may seldom get to participate in. The three programs that visited with the kids were Blank Park Zoo, Grout Musuem, and the favorite by many…Tim the Magician out of Cedar Rapids. I want to thank many people for their contributions both monetary and those that shared their time and talents. The list is long and if I forget someone I apologize so here we go: Wegner Realty (Steve and Marilou Wegner), Great Western Bank, Farm Bureau Insurance (Becky Posusta), Shade Lime and Rock, Benda’s Bulldozing, Goos Implement, Luethje Auto Sales, Deselms Auto, Darrell and Jeanne Paustian, Keith and JoAnne Sash, Livingston Law, Gladbrook Insurance Agency (Annie Stocker). Beth Koester for paper plates, napkins, and milk. JoAnne Sash, Lori Sanderson, June Klinefelter for cookies. Interstate Power Systems (Zac Wegner) for many end of the year awards and prizes. We could not have the success or means to promote literature and reading without the help from individuals and businesses in and around our community. . (P.S. if you’re looking for an end of the year tax-deductible donation please consider your local library!)
