Boys State Delegate Chosen

The Gladbrook American Legion is proud to have chosen a special Junior student to attend Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge, June 10-15, 2018. Preston Goos, son of Sam and Shanna Goos, grandson of Jackie (late Stan), and Maynard and Pam Wedmore, and great grandson of Fuzzy (late Peewee) all of Gladbrook and all with ties to the Legion Post or Auxiliary here. He is a junior student at GMG where he is involved in football and gold, keeping busy in his spare time working at Spanky’s restaurant her ein Gladbrook. Preston is a member of the Peace United Church of Christ of Gladbrook where he is active in their fellowship groups. He was chosen for his leadership qualities and his interest in learning more about our democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Iowa government. Hawkeye Boys State is an exercise in leading as well as following others, an opportunity to gain pride and respect for our form of government and the price paid by others to preserve it. The Gladbrook American Legion extends their congratulations to Preston and hope he will enjoy is experiences at Boys State.
