Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary

The 2017 3rd District Jr. Auxiliary Conference was held on April 2nd at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. Kayla Vavroch, Gladbrook, was the President with the following officers: V-P Justina Eggers, Gladbrook, Secretary Madisyn Eggers, Gladbrook, Historian Sydney Vavroch,Gladbrook, Chaplain Deidra Moore, Conrad Sgt-at-Arms Stella Betts and Adeyln Sienknecht, Gladbrook. Following a dinner served by the Gladbrook Auxiliary, the meeting was called to order by Parliamentarian Jolene Denbow. In the processional Gladbrook and District flags were presented by Maya Goos, Hailey Clemons, Johanna Lage, and Kenzie Bartel. The POW flag was placed by Carlee Smith and the Vacant Chair was read by Justina Eggers. Gladbrook Commander Ron Busch and Unit President Jeanne Paustian brought greetings. 3rd District Chairman of Juniors Melissa Johnson gave the response. Juniors units answering roll call from 3rd District were Conrad, 2 Juniors, Denver, 2 Juniors, and Gladbrook, 13 Juniors. Total registration was 17 Juniors, 22 Seniors, 3 Legionnaire, 5 non-member guests, and 2 Sr.guests for a total of 49. Guests who brought greetings were Department Auxiliary President Sharon Anderson, Altoona, Department Commander KennethRocky Rochholz, Durant, 3rd District President LaDonna Runner, Laurel, and 3rd District Commander Bob Wenger, Atkins. In the absence of State Jr. President Josie Houseman, Melissa Johnson, read a greeting from her. The Gladbrook Juniors gave a basket of baby items for President Josies project of Baby Starter Kits for the VA Womens Clinic. President Kayla gave her Presidents Report about her yearly activities. She told about her projects of collecting pop tabs, collecting paperback books for the IVH, and collecting colors, coloring books, and activity books for veterans children when they visit VA hospitals. The Juniors donated a lot of items for her projects. Chaplain Deidra Green presented a Books of Prayers and Inspirations she made for President Kayla and thanked the Juniors for the prayers and poems they submitted. Historian Sydney Vavroch showed President Kayla the History Book she made. She also thanked everyone that submitted articles and pictures. She will finish Kaylas book after the conference. Gladbrook presented a yearly report for the History Book. A total of $42.75 was collected in the Pennies March with the proceeds going to President Kaylas project. Pop-tabs were collected for the Ronald McDonald House totaling 47 lbs. Gladbrook submitted 20 1/2 lbs. The following officers were elected for the 2017-2018 year: President Justina Eggers, Gladbrook; V-P Deidra Green, Conrad; Secretary Sydney Vavroch Gladbrook; Chaplain Adelyn Sienknecht, Gladbrook; Historian Madisyn Eggers, Gladbrook; Sgt-at-Arms Maya Goos and Stella Betts, both of Gladbrook. They were installed by the 3rd District President LaDonna Runner. President Kaylas mother, Kathy, pinned on her past presidents pin. Gladbrook will host the 2018 conference. Endorsements for Kayla Vavroch and Hailey Clemons were made so they could run for State Jr. offices in June. Contest results were announced. Stella Betts won with her poppy corsage and the Gladbrook Jr. Scrapbook. For entertainment the Juniors enjoyed singing and dancing to the Bunny Hop led by Rev. Barb Muhs, who was also the pianist. V-P Justina Eggers presented President Kayla with a gift from her officers, which was an Isabel Bloom little girl reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The conference ended with singing God Bless America and the retirement of colors. Many from the conference toured the Matchstick Marvels after adjournment sponsored by the Unit.
