Garwin Roughriders By Grace Schewe

The regular meeting of the Garwin Roughriders was held on March 5, 2017 at Chapel Church. President Jake Hlas called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. Jocoby Woodbury led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was taken with the question “what is your favorite animal?” There were 19 members present and 8 parents. Grace Schewe read the minutes from the previous meeting. Wyatt Jackson motioned to approve the minutes as read. The motion was seconded and approved. Frances Jackson read the treasurer’s report with a balance of $1223.75. Jace Hlas motioned to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded and approved Old Business: Pioneer Seed Grant: Leader Ann Jackson has not heard yet on the status of our application. She read a letter from Noah Winters a graduate of GMG High School now attending UNI. He asked if he could partner with our club’s project of disk golf at the Garwin City Park. Wyatt Jackson made the motion to allow Noah to partner with us for the project. Motion was seconded and approved. Signs for the flower project in Garwin. Hallie Claussen will check with Mrs. Murty about field seed signs. New Business: Relay for Life: The Tama Co. Relay for Life walk is June 3, 2017 in Dysart. Our club will need to have three members and one adult walk. As a fundraiser for Relay for Life, our club will provide the meal for Chapel Church’s Ad Council meeting on Sun. March12th. It was decided to make spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, bars and drink. Horseback Riding: today at “Barb” Wire Ranch in Toledo for anyone interested. Frances Jackson made a motion to donate $100.00 to the therapeutic riding program at the ranch. The motion was seconded and approved. The next meeting will be Sun. April 2, 2012. It was decide to have a fun outing at “Get Air Trampoline Park” in Waterloo. Hallie Claussen made a motion for the club to pay half of the admission fee. Motion was seconded and approved. Wyatt Jackson led the members in the 4-H pledge. The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m. After the meeting, Wyatt Jackson gave a presentation of his magic tricks that he will be doing as a communication project for fair.
