T-R Staff Smoldt, Rebels dash past BCLUW REINBECK - Joe Smoldt’s double-double of 27 points and 10 assists helped Class 1A No. 1 Gladbrook-Reinbeck roll past BCLUW, 92-37, in Friday’s NICL West Division contest. Tyler Pierce contributed 17 points and seven rebounds, and Caden Kickbush added 13 points for the Rebels (7-0, 5-0). Walker Thede added nine points in the win. No statistics were available for BCLUW (1-7, 0-4).

GMG girls get past Meskwaki 48-44 MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT - Behind 15 points from McKensie Vaske and 11 from Blaire Sonderleiter, the GMG girls’ basketball squeaked by Meskwaki 48-44 Friday night in Iowa Star South action. Josie Claassen and Kelsey Vaverka added eight apiece for GMG (6-5, 6-2). Meskwaki (5-6, 5-5) was led by Grace Tahahwah with 16 points.

Ubben’s big game leads Comets at G-R REINBECK - Samantha Ubben scored a game-high 24 points to lead the BCLUW girls’ basketball team to its first NICL West Division win - a 50-28 victory at Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Friday night. Lauren Anderson added seven points and 10 rebounds, and Kaylee Goecke also scored seven points for the Comets (3-6, 1-3). Skylar Veldhouse added four points and four steals, and Leah Yantis tallied four points as well. Taylor Gienger led the Rebels (0-10, 0-6) with 16 points. Megan Swanson contributed four points.

Meskwaki boys edge GMG in Iowa Star MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT - The Meskwaki Warriors (4-6, 4-5) pulled away for a 63-52 win against GMG in Friday’s Iowa Star Conference South Division clash. GMG (5-4, 4-4) was led by Austin Cox with 12 points. Hunter Smoldt added eight points, while Brock Baldazo and Aaron Fleming had seven points apiece. Fleming led the Wolverines with eight rebounds.

RebelHawks drop two duals at Jesup JESUP - The Gladbrook-Reinbeck/North Tama wrestling team fell in a pair of NICL dual meets Thursday night, losing 65-13 to Class 2A No. 9 Denver-Tripoli and 46-30 to host Jesup. Peyton Willenbring pinned D-T’s Keenan Balhmann at 220 pounds to the top GRNT victory. Tyler Morrison (170) got a major decision over Ryan Maitland, 14-5, and Conway Feisel got a 9-3 decision against Antonio Graber at 220 pounds. Bronson Wrage (182), Zane Nelson (106) and Noah Skornia (132) picked up pinfall victories against Jesup.
