I have been married to Sheriff Dennis Kucera for 41 years, and we have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. I feel I’m fully qualified to inform you, as to what kind of man he is. Dennis is a very giving, compassionate, loyal and hardworking man. He is not perfect (none of us are), but he comes very close. Dennis has devoted the last 35 years of his life to the safety and well-being of the people of Tama County. He was a volunteer Tama County Sheriff’s Reserve for two years, and was hired full time as a Sheriff’s Deputy. While being a deputy, he was selected by the Sheriff to be night patrol supervisor and later honored as “deputy of the year,” voted by the Sheriff’s Office staff. Dennis has worked very hard to get where he is and it definitely wasn’t for the money, (law enforcement officers are not rich people). He gets jarred awake in the middle of the night, sometimes in extreme weather, to handle calls like domestics, business alarms, accidents, rescue stranded motorist or to assist the deputies, because he is the closest to respond. He never complains, knowing the people that need help are in worse shape than he. Dennis has a big heart and truly likes to help people and this is how he can do that. Tama County is his home and the home of his family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and acquaintances. He cares deeply about you and your families, the people of Tama County, and I truly believe he has done his best to serve and protect you. He has not done this by himself; Dennis has an outstanding, supportive staff at the Sheriff’s Office that he can count on to help keep it running smoothly. The employee turnover at the Sheriff’s Office is very low, why do you suppose that is? I have had numerous people tell me “I would not want his job,” because it is an extremely stressful and demanding job and he has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. I wanted to reply to the negative remarks Dennis’s opponent has made against him. Dennis said No, people are sick and tired of the negativity at the national election and he felt a reply would do more harm than good, he said “let’s keep my campaign positive and professional”. I am asking that you re-elect my husband, Dennis Kucera, who will continue to do his best to protect and serve you to the best of his ability. God Bless You Gayle Kucera
