GMG Face the Bears by Levi Duden The BGM Bears and the GMG Wolverines squared off February 18, in the first round of district basketball. The Wolverines were coming off a win against BCLUW and the Bears were coming off a win against Tri-county, Thornburg. The two teams started the first quarter in two completely different ways. The Bears got off to a hot start, scoring 17 points in the quarter. The Wolverines, on the other hand, got off to a very sluggish start, scoring only 8 points. The entire second quarter was pretty evenly matched, with the Wolverines scoring 17 and the Bears scoring 18. That still left the Wolverines with a 10 point halftime deficit. The Wolverines came out of the gates firing on all cylinders in the 3rd quarter, scoring 23 points. The Bears struggled mightily, however, scoring only 10 points. However, the fourth quarter was completely the opposite. The Bears scored 23 points to close out the game, scoring 68 points total. The Wolverines scored only 11 points and ended the game with 59 points. The Bears leading scorer and rebounder was Tanner Jansen, who had 29 points and 12 boards. Kaiden Fiebelkorn also scored 24 points and made a game high 5 three pointers. The Wolverines on the other hand were lead by Austin Cox who had 25 points. He also picked up 3 assists. Jacob Burt also had 18 points and 6 rebounds.
