Thursday, Dec. 5th, G-R 8th grade Boys Basketball team had our first home game of season in Gladbrook, against BCLUW. G-R won the game 34-17, now 2-0 on year. We came out a little confused and we missed a lot of easy high percentage shots, but give BCLUW credit as they caused some early concerns for us. After 1st qrt it was a tight game up 6-4, and nothing falling, but we climbed to 30-15 advantage at end of 3rd quarter, allowing for good playtime for all players again tonight. The young Rebels were led by Caden Kickbush with season high 16 points, followed by sound overall game for Matt Johannsen with 8 pts, others scoring were Gage Murty 4 pts, Walker Thede 2 pts, Josh Peterson getting his first 2 points in Junior High as he converted from wrestling to basketball last week, and Hunter Smoldt with 2 pts, other players contributing in steals, rebounds, and assists were Owen Beach, Mason Skovgard (fouled out), Will Blakesley, Joel Davis, Kyle Koppen and Bryce Schick absent with foot injury. Our upcoming schedule is Dec. 10th at West Marshall (State Center), Dec. 13th at Gladbrook vs. East Marshall, Dec. 19th at Gladbrook vs. Grundy Center, with a starting time of 4:15p.m. for 8th graders.
