“Rebels start season with win” Welcome to this years edition of the 7th grade boys basketball team. On November 16th the following young men reported to practice: Matt VanHauen, Phil Zimmerman, Austin Bell, Logan Flamme, Cameron Clark, Brady Kuehl, Luke Holman, Noah Ohrt, Bennett Peterson, Zach Pierce, Bradon Trepp, Bryce Ehlers, Camden Kickbush. In our first game we played host to the Cobras of BCLUW. The first game of the season is always an exciting one as you really don’t know what to expect. The first half saw us get out to a early lead and head in to the locker room with a 22-0 score. The second half saw much of the same as the first half allowing us to substitute players for playing time. When the horn sounded to end the game, the young Rebels prevailed with a 37-10 score. The following scored for G-R. Phil Zimmerman - 4 pts. Cameron Clark - 2 pts. Luke Holman - 8 pts. Noah Ohrt - 2 pts. Bennett Peterson - 3 pts. Zach Pierce - 9 pts. Bradon Trepp - 1 pt. Bryce Ehlers - 2 pts. Cam Kickbush - 6 pts. “Rebels defeat West Marshall” On Dec. 15th, the Rebels traveled to State Center to take on the Trojans. After watching a very good 8th grade team from West Marshall we knew we were in for a good game. The first half saw us struggle at times trying to get in sync with the offense. When the horn sounded we took a six point lead in to the locker room. The Rebels turned on the key and ignited the offense as we shot down the Trojans enroute to a 49-21 victory. The following points were scored by the Rebels: Austin Bell - 2 pts. Logan Flamme - 2 pts. Cameron Clark - 4 pts. Brady Kuehl - 6 pts. Bennett Peterson - 6 pts. Zach Pierce - 8 pts. Bradon trepp - 2 pts. Bryce Ehlers - 2 pts. Cam Kickbush - 11 pts. “Rebels defeat Tigers in close game” The South Hardin Tigers and Coach Shindewar visited the Rebels on December 17th for a battle of two teams who were very well matched. The Rebels started out shooting the ball well as we had a 14-6 edge after the first quarter. We held the Tigers to 12 points as we continued playing hard enroute to a 21-11 halftime lead. The second half saw the Tigers come out prowling. The lead we had seemed to get smaller as the game winded down. The Tiger press forced us to turn the ball over cutting our lead to two points. A game tying shot failed for the Tigers, enabling the Rebels to prevail with a 36-34 win. Scoring for G-R are the following: Brady Kuehl - 1 pt. Cam Kickbush - 6 pts. Bennett Peterson - 2 pts. Zach Pierce - 17 pts. Luke Holman - 10 pts.
